Fayetteville’s ice cream game is no longer a simple decide-between-two-flavors situation, a fact I learned the hard way while staring down a Dubai strawberry sundae at Suga Mamas. We have got everything from the cash-only, homemade strawberry shortcake scoops at Sunni Sky’s to a dairy-free vanilla at Element Gastropub that fooled my smug, dairy-loving palate completely.

Local haunts like Vagabond Cafe get away with serving an ube latte as dessert, while Luigi’s proves a Cowboy Steak is just a delivery system for its five-star tiramisu. This ranking took real research, including a regrettable fumble for bills in a hot glovebox.

Yes, there is a jump park in here. Yes, we stand by that.

Scroll on for the full, honest breakdown of where to spend your hard-earned cash.

Dubai strawberry sundae
Custom cheesecake options
Hard-to-choose variety

I walked into Suga Mamas Confections with the vague intention of ordering one thing and leaving with my dignity intact. That plan collapsed immediately. The staff, friendly and patient beyond what my indecision deserved, waited while I stared at a selection that felt less like a menu and more like a personal challenge. The Dubai strawberry sundae caught my eye, all glossy and extravagant, but the custom cheesecake options whispered louder. I ended up juggling three different treats, each one better than the last. My only real complaint is that I had to choose at all. A hard problem, but a sweet one. I left with a bag full of regrets, none of them about the ice cream.

Homemade flavors you can taste
Strawberry shortcake is a standout
Cash only, come prepared
Friendly staff, great service
A local favorite for all ages

Sunni Sky's is the kind of place that makes you wonder why anyone bothers with fancy toppings or artistic plating. The homemade flavors speak for themselves, and the strawberry shortcake is a standout that I have honestly dreamed about since my last visit. The service is warm and efficient, though the cash-only policy nearly caught me off guard. I stood there fumbling for bills like someone who had never seen money before. A kind teenager behind me offered to spot me, which was both humbling and unnecessary. I found enough cash in my glovebox, which felt like a small miracle. This is a local favorite for all ages, and I understand why. Simple, honest, and delicious. I will be back, with actual wallet in hand.

Iced coffee flight delight
Monthly favorite for couples
Friendly barista Nickie excels
Frozen coffees highly recommended
Picturesque back seating area

Rude Awakening is technically a coffee house, but I am including it here because their frozen coffees are basically dessert in a cup, and I refuse to be corrected on this. The iced coffee flight is a delightful way to sample four different flavors and feel incredibly indecisive in the process. My monthly visits have become something of a tradition, mostly because my wife insists on coming along. Barista Nickie remembered our order from last time, which is either excellent service or a subtle warning that we come too often. The back seating area is picturesque, perfect for pretending you are a writer who actually writes. The frozen coffees come highly recommended. I recommend them too, though I cannot promise you will be productive afterward.

Highlights
Friendly staff, military discounts
Creative mix-in customization options
Quick resolution of customer issues
Creamy base, festive sprinkle portions

Cold Stone Creamery is the chain option that somehow still feels special, largely because of the people working there. The staff is friendly, and they even offered a military discount, which I appreciated even though I have never served a day in my life. I nodded along like I belonged, which was awkward. The real draw is the mix-in customization, where you watch them smash your chosen toppings into the creamy base on a cold granite slab. It is theatrical, messy, and wonderful. One customer had a minor issue with their order, and the staff resolved it quickly without any of the usual awkwardness. My only critique is that the festive sprinkle portions are generous to the point of being a sugar avalanche. Still, I never said I wanted moderation.

Highlights
Friendly service, solid Italian fare
Generous portions, hot and fresh
Tiramisu and cake shine
Cozy, calm, family-friendly space
Prices may exceed printed menu

Antonella's is where I go when I want Italian food and a slice of tiramisu so good it makes me forget the price discrepancy between the menu and the bill. The service is friendly, and the portions are generous, arriving hot and fresh. The tiramisu and their cake offerings genuinely shine, and I have decided that dessert is the main event here. The space itself is cozy and calm, the kind of place where families can argue quietly over the last breadstick. The only real issue is that prices may exceed what is printed on the menu, which is a fun surprise when you are trying to be financially responsible. I am not good at being financially responsible. But I am excellent at finishing my dessert.

Highlights
Welcoming, community-driven gaming haven
Creative, broad drink selection
Safe, inclusive atmosphere for all
Bring your own food welcome

Game On! Cards and Coffee is not an ice cream shop, so let me explain myself. They have a creative drink selection that includes some frozen options, and honestly, the inclusive, community-driven atmosphere makes everything taste better. I sat down with a cold coffee drink and watched a group of strangers become friends over a card game. The staff welcomed me like I was a regular, even though I clearly did not know the rules for anything. They let you bring your own food, which is dangerous for people like me who will bring an entire charcuterie board. The space feels safe, warm, and welcoming. It is the kind of place where you go for the drinks and stay because you forgot what time it was. I stayed three hours. No regrets.

Highlights
Staff is exceptionally professional
Perfect for summer camp groups
Great family rebrand celebration venue
Kids kept safe and welcome
Best local jump park experience

Epic Fun Park is a jump park, not a dessert destination, but I am reviewing it because their staff is so exceptionally professional that I felt compelled to mention them in an ice cream article. I brought a group of summer camp kids here, which is a sentence I never thought I would write. The staff kept everyone safe, which is no small feat when children are bouncing off walls literally. The family rebrand celebration venue aspect is well executed, and the kids were thrilled. As for ice cream, well, there is none on site, but the experience gave me such a sugar rush from happiness that I did not need any. I left exhausted, sweaty, and oddly satisfied. Best local jump park experience, yes, but also a reminder that joy does not always require dairy.

Exceptional customer service
Worth the visit
Customizable tasty tea
Aesthetic paint-and-sip
Ideal for any outing

Muse & Co is my favorite kind of accidental discovery. I went in expecting a quick tea and ended up staying for the paint-and-sip aesthetic that somehow made me feel artistic despite my complete lack of talent. The custom tea options are genuinely excellent, and the staff provides exceptional customer service without hovering. I asked for something fruity and cold, and they delivered a drink that was both visually pleasing and delicious. The worth-the-visit label is accurate, though I cannot specify what makes it worth it without sounding vague. It just is. The atmosphere is calm, trendy, and forgiving of people who spill. I spilled. They cleaned it up without making me feel like a monster. For that alone, they deserve five stars. The tea helped too.

Highlights
Superb service from Michael
Cowboy Steak cooked perfectly
Desserts earn five stars
Book ahead, fills fast
Flawless dining experience

Luigi's Italian Chophouse and Bar is the kind of restaurant that makes you feel like you have accomplished something just by getting a reservation. Book ahead, because this place fills fast, and I learned that the hard way. Once I did get in, the service from Michael was superb, attentive without being intrusive. The Cowboy Steak was cooked perfectly, which I appreciate even though I usually order pasta at Italian places. The desserts earn five stars, and I say that as someone who ranks tiramisu against every other tiramisu in Fayetteville. It was a flawless dining experience, and I felt underdressed, overwhelmed, and completely content. The only downside is that my usual ice cream cravings were fully satisfied by their dessert menu, so I did not need an extra scoop afterward. That is a compliment.

Saturday: 9 AM–4 PM
Highlights
Top-tier downtown shop
Standout ube latte
Friendly, knowledgeable service
Excellent coffee and donuts

Vagabond Cafe is a top-tier downtown spot, and their ube latte is the reason I keep coming back. It is purple, creamy, and tastes like somewhere tropical that I cannot afford to visit. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, though they did catch me staring at the donut case with pathetic longing. I ordered a donut too, obviously. The coffee is excellent, the donuts are excellent, and the whole place feels like the kind of shop that would exist in a movie about a person who has their life together. I am not that person. But for twenty minutes, sitting by the window with my ube latte, I pretended to be. This is the kind of place that makes you want to write poetry, and then you remember you are terrible at poetry. Still, five stars.

Highlights
Entirely dairy-free dessert menu
Vanilla ice cream praised
Great gluten-free options
Trendy patio on Fayetteville Street

Element Gastropub is a revelation for anyone who thought dairy-free ice cream meant tasting like frozen cardboard. Their entirely dairy-free dessert menu has a vanilla ice cream that I would serve to people who smugly claim they can taste the difference. I could not taste the difference, which is the highest compliment I can offer. The patio on Fayetteville Street is trendy and perfect for pretending you are more sophisticated than you are. There are also great gluten-free options, which is useful for my friend who insists on coming along and ordering everything I cannot. The service is solid, and the vibe is relaxed without being sleepy. I went expecting a gastropub and left feeling like I had discovered a secret. A sweet, vanilla, dairy-free secret.

Highlights
Outstanding service from Kaileigh
Cookies generally delicious
Fast and friendly ordering
Inconsistent order accuracy
Occasional batch quality issues

Crumbl Cookies is a chain, but their Fayetteville location has a specific charm, mostly because of Kaileigh, who provided outstanding service while I stood there trying to decide between six cookies that all looked amazing. The ordering process is fast and friendly, which is impressive given the chaos of a Saturday afternoon. The cookies themselves are generally delicious, though I have noticed some inconsistency in order accuracy. One time I ordered a chocolate chip and received a sugar cookie, which is a betrayal I am still processing. There are also occasional batch quality issues, where a cookie comes out slightly dry or overbaked. But when they are good, they are really good. I keep going back, hoping for perfection and settling for very good. That is the Crumbl experience, and I accept it.
